ARTIST INFO

Whether my subject is figurative or fueled by a more abstract place or idea, my painting is an effort to build a contained intensity by investing passion, energy and new techniques into traditional materials and forms.  To achieve an energetic surface I paint canvas with unleashed color then shoot it with a 12 gauge shotgun, aiming for a surface that bristles with puzzling textures and bright sometimes garish colors.

I received a BA from the University of Wisconsin--Madison and attended various post-graduate programs.  Having relocated from Chicago three years ago, I continue my painting in Providence, RI.
